E-Verify in Jeopardy

FAIR is reporting that federal reauthorization for E-Verify is in jeopardy. This program is a vital tool in enforcing immigration law.

Here in North Carolina, a bipartisan proposal (SB 2002/HB 2610) to implement E-Verify died in committee. Currently, North Carolina only requires state employers, including the school system, to use E-Verify.

91 percent of voters support requiring employers to verify legal status; and both Georgia and South Carolina, as well as the federal government, require E-Verify.
